Just a quick note to remind you of Greater Manchester Hack Fest, which Hackspace is participating in.
We have partnered with Hive Manchester to put on an alternative to Young Rewired State’s Festival Of Code (because the YRS Festival of Code has been postponed for this year).
The format is a free, fun, coding event, in which 13-18 year olds are encouraged to use their coding skills to solve ‘Coding Challenges’ which the Hive Manchester team have come up with. The idea is to spend a few days learning with each other, building cool software in our awesome Hackspace environment, and having fun.
Mentors (Hackspace members with experience in code, and software developers from local businesses) have given their time to help teach vital coding skills to the next generation of coders, and will be on hand to help. Participants should have basic coding skills, but don’t be put off if you think you don’t know enough - there will be lots of people around to teach and help.
Date: Thursday 11th and Friday 12th August (with an optional ‘Show and Tell’ with all the other groups across Manchester at the Sharp Project on Saturday 13th August)
Location: Leigh Hackspace, Unit F1, The Cotton Mill, Mather Lane, Leigh, Lancashire, WN7 2PW.
Other Info: A buffet lunch will be included. Please bring a laptop (let us know if you don’t have one as we may be able to arrange borrowing one)
